This limited edition of 1200 diecast captures in precise detail the fighting spirit of America's most famous fighter plane from World War II, the P-51 Mustang, as well as the greatest fighter the NHRA has ever produced, John Force. That's why we've named it the American Warbird. The body has simulated pop rivets and black and white D-Day Invasion Stripes, along with a bit of Americana: a WW II "pin up girl" like ones that decorated thousands of planes. It's complete with the elements of a John Force car: the insignia JF 9, John's car number this year; 14 bomb kill stickers, one for each championship John has won; and John’s nickname for his car, "The Ole Hot Rod."

During the 2005 season’s final NHRA event at Pomona Raceway, John Force opted to run a carbon fiber version of his Castrol GTX Start Up Ford Mustang funny car. Force hoped that the lightweight material would give his car the speed it needed during the hotly contested funny car contest. The ARC replica version of the Castrol GTX Start Up/Carbon Fiber Ford Mustang funny car also is cast in gold-hued carbon fiber.

John Force, driver of the Castrol GTX Start Up Ford Mustang and the 13X Funny Car Champion, is one of the most popular drag racers of all time. He is the only drag racer ever named Driver of the Year for all of American motor racing, and has won at least one NHRA tour event for 17 straight seasons. This year kicks off John Force's new "The Next Generation" campaign of John Force Racing. "The Next Generation" revolves around Force's plan to mold his team to become the new funny car champions of the future. This new motto of the future can be found on Force's new 2005 standard paint scheme. The 2005 standard will also feature the classis #1 for the last time on the current body type.
Once he took the 1990 funny car champion's trophy home, John Force fired up the engine on his Castrol GTX machine to make his run for a repeat in1991. Force seemed even more determined in 1991, making 10 final-round appearances and collecting five more victories for his efforts. And, much like 1990, Force was left standing with the 1991 NHRA funny car championship by season's end.
In 1990, during his fifth season with Team Castrol, John Force finally ended up with his "perfect" ending. With seven victories in seven final round appearances and 10 No. 1 qualifying starts, Force and the Castrol GTX Oldsmobile funny car seemed unstoppable. Ultimately, Force would end his storybook season by hoisting the NHRA funny car championship trophy in the winner's circle for the first time in his career.
