RC 2 1964 Plymouth Belvedere    AUTOGRAPHED

After the dominating 1964 Daytona win and the 1964 Grand National Championship that year Richard Petty no longer stood in the shadow of his father. His remarkable accomplishment in 1964 was the highest total number of races entered that year at 61 races. Richard Petty was locked into a heated three way battle for the Championship with Ned Jarrett and David Pearson.

So close were Ned Jarrett and Richard Petty that the Championship came down to number of events entered. Richard had competed in all 61 events. Ned Jarrett had been in 59 events, two less than Richard. That was the main difference that clinched the Grand National Title that year.
