In 1989, while driving the No. 27 Kodiak Pontiac for famed owner Raymond
Beadle, Rusty Wallace lit up the NASCAR Cup Series circuit, earning his
first NASCAR championship title. That season, Wallace collected six wins and
four pole awards, including a sweep at Richmond International Raceway,
consecutive poles at Sonoma and Pocono and back-to-back victories at Watkins
Glen and Michigan. Wallace also picked up a pole-to-checkered flag win at
Rockingham and his second career victory at Bristol Motor Speedway. This
